Quick Entry: Gamifying a Galactic Portfolio with the 3D Galaxy Map!
Announcing Space 3.0: an interactive Mass Effect-inspired 3D Galaxy Map built with Three.js WebGL. Transforming software projects into explorable celestial bodies with true orbital physics, dynamic OST streaming, and secret sectors.
New Interactive Feature Announcement & Direct Invitation:
Ever felt that standard web portfolios with flat cards and static lists get a little repetitive? I certainly did. Today, I'm thrilled to open-source and release the Space 3.0 Interactive Galaxy Map (BETA) directly inside my portfolio!
If you love space exploration, sci-fi classics like Mass Effect, WebGL 3D graphics, or discovering hidden gaming easter eggs, I warmly invite you to go test out the Galaxy Map right now on the main page!👉 Launch the 3D Galaxy Map Experience (or press Q / type
/galaxymapin the built-in CLI!)

Explore the Galaxy Map!The Philosophy: Why Gamify a Developer Portfolio?
Most developer portfolios follow a predictable formula: a hero banner, a skills grid, and a series of project cards with GitHub links. While functional, it rarely conveys passion, creativity, and deep technical graphics craftsmanship.
As a game developer and low-level reverse engineer, I wanted the portfolio to feel like an interactive game in itself. Taking inspiration from the iconic CIC Galaxy Map in Mass Effect 2 & 3, Space 3.0 reimagines every single project as a distinct planet inside thematic star clusters:
- Core Systems Sector: The central hub housing the Web Portfolio and this Technical Journal.
- Game Dev & Engines Sector: Commercial releases like Sparky Rush, prototypes like Outcaster (Unity 6), and 3D asset repositories.
- Low-Level & Reversing Sector: Call of Duty memory injectors, GDK sandbox token research, crossplay relays, and opcode decompiler dumps.
- Tools & Modding Sector: Modding toolkits like AutoParMS (Dragon Engine) and FF13Fix.
Under the Hood: Building a 60–120 FPS WebGL Universe
Building a cinematic space simulator in Three.js that runs smoothly across desktop browsers required solving multiple graphics and architectural challenges:
1. 55,000 Particle Instanced Spiral Galaxy
Instead of rendering heavy mesh objects for background stars, the entire galactic disc uses GPU Instanced particle buffers (THREE.Points) animated via custom GLSL trigonometric spiral mathematics. This keeps draw calls minimal while generating mesmerizing density, core stellar clouds, and volumetric depth.
2. Dual-Layer Orbital Mechanics with Real GLB Assets
Every planet features a dynamic procedural surface shader and hosts authentic 3D models orbiting in real-time:
- Meta Slave Planet (ProjectY): Hosts synchronized dual orbits of 3D Yu-Gi-Oh! cards (Ryzeal Detonator and Tearlaments Kitkallos).
- Outcaster FPS: Features the 2.5D pixel-art pistol converted into a full 3D asset.
- T6 GSC Mods: Orbits a custom-modeled Call of Duty Zombies Nuke Power-Up alongside a physically-lit Juggernog machine.
- Sparky Rush: Orbits the official 3D game logo with subtle rotation damping.
3. Spatial Audio & Sector-Specific Soundtrack Streaming
What is space flight without atmosphere? The Galaxy Map integrates a zero-bloat dynamic audio system streaming sector-specific ambient soundtracks:
- Galaxy Map Core: Mass Effect — Uncharted Worlds Theme
- Low-Level & Reversing: Mass Effect 2 — The Illusive Man Theme
- Game Dev Sector: Starfield OST — Into the Starfield
- Solar System (UAC): DOOM (1993) — At Doom's Gate (E1M1)
- Secret Sectors: Classic retro themes and dynamic muting whenever playable mini-games are launched!
Secret Sectors, Cheat Codes & Direct Easter Eggs
Because no classic game is complete without secrets, the Galaxy Map includes uncharted sectors that can be unlocked via the in-browser terminal (SpetTerm):
- SPETUNLOCK Cheat Code: Inspired by the famous
3arc unlockfrom Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, typingSPETUNLOCKinto the terminal immediately unlocks and marks all hidden sectors on the tactical holographic map! - Solar System (UAC Telemetry): Fly by the Earth, Moon, Mars, Phobos, and Deimos to trigger retro DOOM telemetry.
- Direct Link Easter Egg: Want to jump straight into the classic Jailson Mendes DOOM WAD without navigating? Simply open

Come Take It for a Spin!
The entire system is live right now at spet01.dev. You can toggle the Galaxy Map mode anytime using:
- The "Interactive Experience: Galaxy Map" button on the home screen.
- Pressing Q on your keyboard from anywhere on the site.
- Entering
/galaxymapin the interactive terminal (Ctrl + K).
Enjoy exploring the stars, and feel free to reach out if you have feedback on the Three.js performance or find any of the hidden secrets!
